A weird irony about Jewish models is that their faces are glamorous and their names are – sometimes not. For instance: Yael Goldman sounds like she could have been the girl who got straight A’s in high school and got married after seminary. But look at her:
I mean, maybe she did get straight A’s in high school. And Yael is a pretty name. But ‘Goldman’ – that’s so old-school, so Ashkenazi, so Jewish. Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t associate that with models.
Same thing with Galit Gutmann: Galit = exotic, international, interesting. Gutmann = grandparents, old world, motherland. But, again, this woman is not that at all:
Alas, what’s in a name? In the modeling business, beauty is everything anyway.
