I guess I can take all of the other places because I can maneuver a sidewalk or any other crowded place amazingly and avoid the crap… (all the New York walking). But all the New York experience in the world wouldn’t prepare me for elevators since everyone was so goddam polite about elevators.

Oh girrrrl, it’s not just the elevator. It’s the sidewalk, the narrow aisle at the makolet and the same bitchy stare every time. It’s about territory, stance, some sick and twisted idea of not moving aside because that would be “weak”…it’s one of the reasons they’re loved the world over.
